VILLAGE SCHOOL 4TH GRADE ARTWORK

                                  ARTWORK FROM THE VILLAGE SCHOOL
I teach ART to the 4th grade students at the Village School.  I thought I would add some photos of the amazing work being created by these wonderful artists.  I work with the following classes: Mr Kannally, Mrs. LeBlanc, Mrs. Fehrenbach, Mrs. Madden, Ms.Welsh, Mrs. Mohan and Ms. Hobson.
This year we built sculptures in paper and in clay. We also explored line and shape and designed our names within an animal.  We have used tempera paints to bring landscapes, animals and pastries alive.  We learned about the artists Pablo PicassoWayne Thiebaud, David Hockney, James Rizzi, Jim Dine and Xavier Costellanos.

CRAZY HAIR DAY 1st grade

Our First grade children had the opportunity to really express themselves and make their hair go wild. We sketched self-portraits with markers and then did our best folding to create WILD AND CRAZY HAIR.

MOUSE HOUSES - FIRST GRADE

In the First Grade we created clay mice in a variety of shapes and colors.  We  decided to design condominiums for each of our critters and then gathered them all together to create a MOUSE VILLAGE.  We talked about design and what each mouse would need in their home. Check it out!  From beautiful bedrooms to video corners, large t.v.'s, swimming pools, bathrooms and kitchens. What an amazing Glover Village!

CHECK OUT OUR COOL MICE, TOO!!!!!

YUM, ICE CREAM

Our third grade students learned how to make tints and shades of a color. We experimented by mixing colors with tempera paints. Then we sketched 5 or 6 scoops of ice cream and painted them in a tint or shade of our delicious color. We added a final touch with some very fancy, shiny sprinkles.

JIM DINE HEARTS

These heart collages were designed by our 3rd grade artists.  We learned about the American artist Jim Dine and then recreated his HEART PAINTING by painting paper and then collaging. We enjoyed mixing colors and made many new color discoveries. We embellished our Hearts by using tempera paints, lots of shapes, lines and dabs!

CONCENTRIC CIRCLES

Our Kindergarten students learned about the artist Wassilly Kandinsky and then painted concentric circles using tempera paints.

PAUL KLEE AND HIS CAT FRITZIE

First grade students were introduced to the Swiss artist Paul Klee and learned about his cat Fritzie. They looked at the art of Paul Klee and noticed how he used lots of shapes and colors in his pictures. Together we drew Fritzie the cat and then added a variety of patterns to his body to make him look more interesting. We added shapes to reflect Klee's style by painting colored tissue paper on the work and then peeling the shapes off when dry.  We all did a great job!
